Weekend BBQ

>> Friday, June 26, 2009

It's already the end of June! Can you believe it? I haven't even had ONE summer BBQ yet and I have to say, I'm itching for it a wee bit!

Here's some Summer BBQ inspiration for you....

{meatball grill basket. click image to get!}
I found this as I was spying wedding registries and a) it made me hungry but b) it made me want to have a summer BBQ!

While on a romantic getaway, I fell in love with a wine you can't anywhere except online.
Not your average Sauvignon Blanc drinker here however, Frias made a wonderful one that was delightful paired with cheese, fruit AND chocolate!
{Get your Frias Wine here}

Well, if you're going to enjoy a nice glass of wine, the kids should have a nice glass of lemonade to enjoy!
I bought the above jars for my son's 1st birthday party and they were a hit!
Buy the pieces here

So...get some ice in a bucket, the glasses out, the fire started, some s'more fixins, meat, friends, and some music together. It's time to RELAX a bit, don'tcha think?!

Being Who You Want To Be

>> Thursday, June 25, 2009

I don't think I ever stop dreaming of the things I could do if I only took the time to learn how or the person I want to be as I get older. The ever present question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" is in constant refinement. I'm always wondering what I'll be as I continue to grow up!

The first thing I remember ever wanting to be was an anesthesiologist--because it was the biggest word I could say. In high school my dream was to be the CEO of a major corporation. In my heart, I've always wanted to be an author or a store owner.

Other than the things I've wanted to BE, I've got a long list of the things I want to DO & learn how to do:
{learn to play guitar}

{learn to sew a plethora of goodies}

{learn to cook creatively & healthily}

{learn to surf...& confidently wear a bathing suit}

{write something life changing}

I never want to stop adding to who I am and what I can do. Learning something new can be scary but maintaining your sense of self is priceless. What things are on YOUR "learn-to-do" list?

In My Beauty Bag...

>> Wednesday, June 24, 2009

If you know me then you KNOW I am not "into" beauty products.  I am as low maintenance as can be...I never really spend money on much other than getting my hair done and pedicures, and makeup is just not something I like to put effort into.  I get ready in 10 minutes....like wake up and out the door....LITERALLY.  But lately, with weddings on the horizon, my tune is starting to change.  Here are some things I have splurged on in the last couple of days, and let me tell you, WORTH IT!  I HAD to share.....seriously....I threw out my drugstore mascara and have had COMPLIMENTS on my skin after using these!
I'm a Bare Minerals girl for sure...I LOVE it because I hate that "make up" look.  I went to restock and tried their new Hydrating Mineral Veil.  It felt like velvet going onto your skin, and is water based so it leaves your skin refreshed and dewy and glowing!  Bought it! Love it! Get it here.

Ummm...I thought drugstore mascara did the trick.  Boy was I WRONG!  This Badgal Lash is FAB!  It plumps and thickens with the BIG brush and seriously makes your lashes look like an actress.  OBSESSED.  Never going back to $7 mascara again. NEVER.  Get it here.

Oh my, OH MY, I am saving the BEST for last.  This stuff is MIRACULOUS!  No kidding if you're going to get ONE thing....get "That Gal" Brightening Face Primer by Benefit.  So I went to the Brow Bar and got my eyebrows waxed FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER (uh hello, amazingness, why I have been holding out on getting the brows done? I'm a believer....), and they gave me a little makeover before I left.  And aside from the mascara, this product impressed more than anything I have ever seen.  It smells good, feels good, and transforms your skin.  It seriously DIMINISHES pores like magic, gives your skin an even glow that is flawless...I mean this stuff is so good you can EASILY wear it alone and look great!  Loved it, never going without it again, and HAD TO TELL EVERYONE!  Get it here.

It's crazy how a little pampering and some new awesome products (that are SO worth the money) can make you feel beautiful.  I can't even tell you how important it is to my self esteem to spend a little time and effort on my beauty regimen once and awhile.  I was in a rut, and just a few little things really turned it around.  What are YOUR favorite products?  What do you just love in your beauty bag?

Gourmet Gifts for Your Favorite Foodie!

>> Monday, June 22, 2009

Happy Monday! Hope you all LOVED your dad's yesterday!!! I had a weekend FILLED with delicious food and a little bit of cooking and baking...which inspired THIS post (and some potential future posts that revolve around my insane love of eating).

These are some amazing gift ideas for ANYONE that loves to cook, or to add to YOUR kitchen! I love anything cooking/baking/kitchen-related...ESPECIALLY products that have fabulous design and packaging. Here are few of my favorite, well designed & tasty, food-wares:
First I discovered this amazing Etsy shop that sells kits of organic, exotic & gourmet spices (among MANY other well designed and packaged kitchenwares) in extremely well designed packaging. I just LOVE how the spice kits come in these craft tubes...don't you? I want to order the Southeast Asian Spice Kit immediately!
Nudo, the company (and olive grove) that produces the olive oil pictured above, is WONDERFUL! They have an amazing "Adopt an Olive Tree" program where you can literally adopt a tree in one of their many groves in Italy and they will send you several shipments through out the year from your tree! You get some of the best fresh-pressed olive oil I have ever tasted in my life! I have adopted a tree for my foodie father the past two Christmases and I cannot even tell you how much he LOVES his olive oil. Plus this company has the BEST design and packaging ever! They send you adoption papers on your tree right away...it's seriously awesome and worth EVERY penny for the delicousness that comes to your door step straight from the grove in Italy!

Delicious Magazine has been voted the World's Best Food Magazine, and I think this is on my list of gifts for my dad for his birthday this year! It's an Australian based mag, which does mean it's expensive, but it features the best of the best in the food world and is chocked full of recipes and features and celebrity chefs and everything in between. You can order a subscription through Amazon and then print a personalized Delicious Magazine Gift Card
here.

If you are like me, then you LOVE Tyler Florence. I am obsessed with his new shop in Marin...oh my I wish I could move in! I discovered on his website that you can actually sign up for the Tyler Florence Kitchen Club where, for $25 a month, you receive a gift box FILLED with all of the fabulous hand selected kitchenwares from Tyler's shop EVERY SINGLE MONTH. Ok, seriously, that is worth every penny (and also would make a really good wedding present...don't you think? hint. hint.)
