Sneak Peek....

>> Monday, September 28, 2009

Happy Monday!  The week of the wedding has arrived...and I have been insanely busy with crafting, errands, and everything in between!  Allegra and I will probably be kind of MIA this week (and next week) because she is IN my wedding, her hus is helping photograph my wedding, and well, I'm the bride....so we're BUSY!   But we can't WAIT to share tons of pics and all the details!  Until then, here is a sneak peek of something I created over the weekend for the wedding:

Glittered Pumpkins!

>> Friday, September 25, 2009

I have been seeing these gorgeous glittered DIY pupmkins everywhere so I just HAD to do them myself!
Michael's Craft Store sells a glittered pumpkin kit, too! It's $15.99 but I found a coupon so I got it for $8.69. Check dealnews.com for coupons that may be available for some of your favorite stores! All I had to do was buy my mini pumpkins
(I wasn't about to attempt glittering a beast before I knew this would work!)
When I had one done and one naked, I decided...it's time to glitter on!
Are these not soooo fun!!
I was able to complete these--with photos-in 30 minutes!
Not too shabby and a great use for the baby's nap time!
Now, I just have to get the Hus to agree to let me keep the glittered pumpkin on the entry table.
(he HATES glitter!)
Happy Crafting!

Black Pumpkins

A super easy pumpkin craft.

All you need is:
black spray paint
ribbon
white paint

I took my Sugar Pumpkin outside onto the lawn and although the plate is ugly, it protected my grass.
After all three had sat in the sun for 10 minutes and were dry, I took them inside for final touches.
(Spray them sitting up first. After they are dry, tip them over to spray the bottoms)
Add a little flair with some ribbon of choice and tie it around the stems.
Paint a Spooky/Festive word and put them on your mantel!
I cannot remember WHERE I saw this idea but it wasn't mine :)
If it was from your blog, tell us so we can reference you!!

80s Showerette!

>> Wednesday, September 23, 2009

So as I mentioned yesterday, this past weekend my AMAZING friend Brooke threw me an 80's Showerette (half shower, half bachelorette) in Sacramento.  I am OBSESSED with the 80's and dressing up...and everyone came dressed to impress!  The invitation was designed by my sister Annie and was the beginning of Brooke's creative vision for the ultimate 80s extravaganza!

Tables were decorated in neon green and purple with LOTS of lovely 80s pics of my sister's and I growing up...pipe cleaners, flowers, neon bracelets and candles were EVERYWHERE!
Brooke even had it catered with BBQ food, and don't worry....there were wine coolers and juice boxes of Hawaiian punch and Yoo Hoo for the kids!
One of my favorite parts were the favors!  The puff paint and friendship bracelet table was a HUGE hit!  There were tank tops and denim totes to be painted....and everyone remembers making friendship bracelets with embroidery floss right?!?!
And now for the outfits....I found my vintage 80s dress on Etsy!
A HUGE thank you to everyone who came and especially to BROOKE!  I love you and couldn't have asked for a more amazing night...you are beyond creative and a FABULOUS hostess!

Parking Day 2009

>> Tuesday, September 22, 2009

This year I actually got to participate in Parking Day 2009 (perhaps a "perk" to my recent furlough Fridays?), and was so excited about it!  Amanda and I had our morning bagel and coffee at my favorite neighborhood cafe: Caffe Greco.  We sat in our delightful parking spot and sipped out of our giant latte mugs and enjoyed the amazing SF weather.  One more thing I love about this city!

The merchants in North Beach loved the flexible dining so much, they extended their parking patios through the weekend all along Columbus Avenue.  It was seriously awesome!  For more about what Parking Day is, and how extremely successful it was this year, check out StreetsblogSF.org!

Crafting Weekend.....

This past weekend was insanely busy and awesome!  It was filled with crafting, mexican food, and an 80's shower/bachelorette to boot!  I have LOTS of pics to blog....so I'll start with these.  My fabulous friend Amanda flew out from NYC to help me with wedding projects....we got super crafty and even did some photo shoots in the park and in my living room for Untamed Petals!  It was the BEST time ever!  Here are some pics of our craftiness...
These are all the materials, colors, etc. she has been using for all of my wedding hair adornments.  Are you in love with this delicious color scheme or what?!
Lots of chiffon, organza & silk....lace & ribbons...feathers....oh my!
Here's a little sneak peak of some of the finished products.....AMAZINGNESS!
P.S. If you live in the NYC area and are a bride-to-be...make sure you check out Amanda's trunk show at The Wedding Library, with Two Birds Bridesmaids, this weekend!
