Tis' the season and there are so many ways to celebrate it but what IS it and HOW is it celebrated?
ad⋅vent:
(noun) the period beginning four Sundays before Christmas, observed in commemoration of the coming of Christ into the world.
I (Allegra) grew up celebrating advent with my family every year by lighting the candles on the advent wreath, reading our advent book together.
In our youth we'd gather every night but as we got older, advent was celebrated every Sunday.
It was a nice quiet time to prepare our hearts for the reason the season is here at all.
It was our opportunity to love on each other with the greatest gifts: time and words of encouragement.
Other advent celebrations can be as simple as opening one of those fun count down boxes that have chocolate behind each door, or these....

Allegra,
I was so happy to read this because my family also participates in advent traditions....advent wreath, advent calendar, daily scripture verse....all to prepare for the coming of Christ.
Beautiful selections!

Anna
I need to get a LOT better at incorporating the church-season of Advent into our daily Christmas-countdown.
Next year, I'm resolved to add a verse (that Katelyn can read) in her advent house when she opens her calendar. Perhaps even put a coordinating little toy or candy in there as well!!? That will take a LOT of pre-planning.
I love Advent - it is so important! xoxoxo
I can't wait till I have time to sit and explore those blogs with all the too-cute advent ideas! What great gifts they would make!
